Summer Institute for the Vocal Arts

In addition to being a singer and distinguished voice teacher, Lisa Tamagini is the Artistic Director and founder of the Summer Institute for the Vocal Arts (SIVA). SIVA’s mission is to offer quality vocal instruction and performance opportunities for young singers in all styles (musical theater, contemporary, opera, and jazz) pursuing careers in the vocal arts. Students are instructed through the fundamentals of classical technique by seasoned voice teachers and directors from New York City and Boston who have worked professionally, or are currently working in the performing arts industry. Pictured below are some of the acclaimed singers, musicians, directors, conductors and composers Lisa has worked with and brought to the SIVA program as Teaching Guest Artists.

Georgia Stitt

Broadway Music Director and famed composer/lyricist. Georgia was the on-set music supervisor for the film The Last Five Years and has worked as the vocal coach for the NBC's America’s Got Talent, the Assistant Music Director for NBC’s Clash of the Choirs, the on-camera vocal coach for NBC's Grease: You’re The One That I Want, the Production Music Coordinator for the Disney/ABC musical Once Upon A Mattress starring Carol Burnett and Tracey Ullman. On Broadway: Assistant Conductor of Little Shop Of Horrors and the Associate Conductor of Encores! Production of Can-Can starring Patti Lupone.

Lindsay Mendez 

Tony Award winner for her performance as Carrie Pipperidge in the 2018 Broadway revival of Carousel for which she also won a Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award. Other Broadway credits include: Significant Other, Elphaba in Wicked (10th Anniversary Company), Godspell, Everyday Rapture, and Grease.

Jason Robert Brown

Renowned composer of popular Broadway musicals and scores including the generation-defining The Last Five Years, his debut song cycle Songs for a New World, The Bridges of Madison CountyHoneymoon In Vegas, and the seminal Parade, for which he won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Score.

Caitlin Kinnunen

Tony nominated actress for her work in the Broadway hit The Prom. Other Broadway credits include, The Bridges of Madison County and Spring Awakening.

Elizabeth Stanley

2020 Tony Award Nomiee for Best Actress in a Leading Role in the Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill. Other Broadway credits include: On the Town for which she received a Drama Desk nomination and Tony Award Winning revival of Company.

Judith Clurman

Emmy and Grammy nominated conductor, vocal educator and choral specialist. Judith Clurmin conducts the Essential Voices USA, The Symphony Singers, collaborates with the New York Pops on their Carnegie Hall subscription series, with the New York Philharmonic, and is a member of the faculty at the Manhattan School of Music.

Sherry Sanders

In 2004, Sheri Sanders noticed that the radio was changing the climate of Musical Theater and has since become the world’s preeminent Popular Music Repertoire Coach and in 2015, turned her hugely successful book, Rock the Audition: How to Prepare for and Get Cast in Rock Musicals, into an interactive online training program. Besides training performers and educators from every corner of the world, she has teamed up with Musicnote.com to create custom audition cuts in all styles of Popular Music and Musical Theatre! Sanders' performance techniques have brought her students to the Broadway stage, touring companies, and regional productions.
